Crossfit NRG Est. 2008
Who are we?
We are not who we think we are, we are not who you think we are, we are not how we feel. We are what we do when no one is watching..
A friend of mine told me this once and it had a drastic effect on who I am.
My name is James Sjostrom I can only tell you but a little,
I want my body to mesh well with whatever environment I put it in. I want to be strong, but not so strong that my body loses natural form. I don’t want to be a muscle bound freak, well not all the time, I want to run, but not so much that my joints hurt. I want to look good because I feel good. I think my goal is to be athletic?
Before there was crossfit sport, and before there was crossfit competitions, and before there were the crossfit games, there was just CrossFit. This was the crossfit that I fell in love with. I trained because, it was convenient, it was fun and it was effective. My body changed back to a younger version, I was strong, ripped, energetic, and happy, I made new friends, ate better and just overall felt good. I showed up, I did the workout of the day, I learned new information, I practiced my weakness, I enjoyed some god given strengths, and I had fun. It was all in the name of General Physical Preparedness. It was about being military ready at all times, it was to be “more healthy”. It was called CrossFit!
Our members told us they wanted to be stronger, too feel younger, to recover from pregnancy, to be able to get off the toilet after a hard workout, that participating is more important that competing, you didn’t want your back to hurt, you wanted more energy, you wanted a challenge, you need an hour break from the daily grind, you want your time well spent, you don’t come to the gym to hurt yourself, you want the benefits of exercise more than you want to be good at it, your time is precious, how you do things is as important as what you do, being good in the gym isn’t as important as showing up in life ready to go, you want your kids to learn the same things you were learning, our members told us they wanted to reach their goals.
So we practice world class fitness in 100 words written by Crossfit HQ?
“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.”
We also have found other training systems that help us reach your goals, including but in no way limited to, StrongFirst, Primal Move, RKC, FMS, NASM, CSCS and many others.
We make this all as safe as possible, from our own bad experience and we learn from others. (Some of you teach us a lot)
We have fun, we do challenges, we learn more, we follow programs, we make our own, we participate, we strengthen each other.
We are strong, we are fit, we are NRG! (Pronounced Energy)
